Friday Funday- Kitter Comfort

In my world, Kitter is another word for Cat. I'm not a huge fan of cats (always been a dog-man), however I am a big fan of this huge cat bean-bag sofa!

I'm now on the hunt for a pig one; that would be awesome! I don't know where it would lie in my 375 sq. ft. apt, but I'd make it work!

Happy Friday!!!

I saw this on the "Design within Reach" page a while back, but have been meaning to share it!

Love ya'll.

My fave DANMADE project

YOU made it possible, and the BOOKSHELF project was one of my favorite (and easiest) to do. Now go buy some 1/2'' black galvanized pipe (which is SO CHEAP at any local hardware store) and make one for yourself!

love ya'll

Wide open loft!

It is nice to see a modern loft with character and spunk instead of just a WHITE BOX! I love the industrial feel of this wide open space juxtaposed with rustic elements that help turn this cold apartment into a warm and comfortable home. The layout is simple, the design even more basic. I am obsessed with the exposed structural concrete columns and joists, they add interest, re-enforce the industrial nature of the space and expand the room.

My FAVORITE ROOM IN THE LOFT- the bathroom. I would seriously live in there. It is classy, but not overdone. Normally in a loft like this, people tend to cram the bathroom in a corner to maximize living space. However, it is great to see someone understand and appreciate the value of MAXIMIZING BATHING SPACE!!! What a nice retreat to relax in, and get ready in, everyday.

Simple Home - white

Loving the simplicity and SERENITY of these photos from Simple Home.

Which reminds me (totally off the subject) that I found a title for my design style this past weekend: "Junk Style". Although it sounds a bit insulting at first, I began to evaluate my home. 90% of what I own, I either salvaged (which is a cleaner way of saying I dug it out of the trash) or I built out of reclaimed materials (also bound for the dump)! Unfortunately, there is already a book that has claimed the title of this design style. However, I'm happy to embrace it as my own, too! Times are tough, so re-purposing and salvaging has taken on a new meaning for many, which thrills my heart, because that's the way I was raised!

Anyways, enough ranting. Enjoy the rest of your week. For those of you back home in Arkansas, I hope the rare LOAD of snow that was dumped on you last night is an escape from the norm and an excuse to stay bundled up and relax at home with family!

18th Century Renovation

In order to PRESERVE this 18th Century home and still have modern day amenities, the homeowners simply added on! I love the balance of old rustic mixed with new industrial throughout the home. Props to them for spending the time an money to preserve this historic gem.

Enjoy!

Simple creativity

Don't over think your design challenges. Think function first, salvage second, and purchase third.

Simple creativity goes a LOT FURTHER than a wad of cash (at least in my book).

Simple Dining

Although not a huge fan of the aluminum navy chair at the head of this table, I am drawn to the simple style and coziness of this room.
