modern industrial rustic

This home effortlessly mixes modern, industrial, and rustic elements, which = LOVE to me!

The exterior is simply stunning!!!

However, I will say that I am little disappointed that the interior doesn't have the rustic depth and warmth that is evident from the outside looking in. I realize some people prefer a more simple, clean, modern design, but this house is BEGGING ME to come add an extra layer of texture and coziness to the interior living-space!

Meatpacking Collection coming soon!

Among many things on the "New Year's Resolution" list, I am SO EXCITED about launching the new Meatpacking line of Capsule Furniture in 2011!

The wood is beautiful, the story behind it better! It is such a shame that the contractor was going to trash these 200+ year old beams. Sadder still, this happens EVERYDAY in New York City. However, the silver lining is that I was able to rescue the wood from the landfill, have it stored, and have been hard at work designing the new Meatpacking Collection!

The city, luckily, has required that the facade of this historic building in the heart of New York's Meatpacking District be preserved. And "your's truly" has the greater pleasure of designing a new line of furniture with the equally historic, solid, wood-beam, skeleton.

Happy New Year

Grateful for all of the blessings and experiences of 2010, I look forward to the new chapter ahead in 2011!

Dream big, travel light, enjoy the view, live in the moment, seek a different perspective, appreciate the simple beauty surrounding you, and don't be afraid to take a road less travelled and let the wind carry you wherever your purpose lies.

Happy New Year!

Canopies

I have seen some REALLY BAD canopy beds over the years, but when done right, they can be awe-inspiring!

Here are a few that I have randomly collected as a reminder that "not all canopies are cheesy". :)

Last blog of 2010. See ya'll next year!

Inspiring photography by Hannah Davis

Each one of these photos I love for different reasons. After discovering Hannah Davis and wanting to post a few "sample" photos of her work, I was overwhelmed and inspired. Every photo seemed to evoke some sort of emotion in me, so you get a 5 course meal today instead of an appetizer!

Prepare for sensory overload!!! Hannah has a keen eye for shooting entire landscapes "from a different perspective". Some of my favorite shots are the nature scenes, they look (and somehow feel) surreal! Enjoy!

Sliding House

What an amazing world we live in.

I love the simplicity of this design. An ingenious concept using simple materials with a tribute to the past and an obvious salute to the future!
